Founding

Portsmouth Football Club is a Football Club based in Portsmouth, England, which plays in League One after winning League Two in the 2016–17 season. Portsmouth have been playing their home games at Fratton Park since its inception in 1898. Portsmouth played at the highest level from 1947 to 1959, in 1987/88 and from 2004 to 2010. The English national championship was won twice, in 1949 and in 1950. In 1939 and 2008 Portsmouth won the FA Cup.
