Go Ahead Eagles

Founding

Go Ahead Eagles is a Dutch professional football club based in Deventer. The home games are played in the own stadium De Adelaarshorst.

Go Ahead, the club from which Go Ahead Eagles originated, was founded on December 2, 1902 as Be Quick. When joining the NVB in 1905, the club (because of the already existing Groningen club Be Quick) was obliged to change its name and did so in Go Ahead. On July 31, 1971, at the split of the amateur and professional branches, the addition Eagles was pasted behind the name on the intercession of then trainer-coach Barry Hughes. The amateurs continued as D.V.V. Go Ahead.
