Dundee United

Founding

Dundee United Football Club is a Scottish football club based in Dundee. Dundee United FC, just like fellow city rival Dundee FC, was only once champion in the Scottish Premiership. Following the example of Hibernian and Celtic, the Irish people of the city founded their own football club, Dundee Hibernian (Hibernia is the Latin name for Ireland). In 1923 the club ran into financial difficulties and were taken over by some businessmen who changed the name to Dundee United.
