Bayer Leverkussen

Founding

Bayer 04 Leverkusen is a German football club based in Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia. The football club became officially independent on 1 April 1999 after a separation from the gymnastics and sports club Bayer 04 Leverkusen, which has existed since 1 July 1904 (the football department already existed before this). The club is 100 percent a subsidiary of the German chemical group Bayer AG, from which the gymnastics and sports association initially originated.

 

Prizes

Bayer Leverkussen won the German Cup (DFB Pokal) in 1993 and achieved European success in 1988 by winning the UEFA Cup.
